The following are files that include rules of engagement, conduct, and behavior on ATS TrekMUSH. Check here often for new files, and changes to them as things progress:

(A0.0) ATS Rules of Engagement

    (A0.1) The Wizards reserve the right to override the letter of these rules in favor of the spirit of them.
    (A0.2) The Wizards reserve the right to [Bitch-Slap] anyone for attempting to abuse these rules.
    (A0.3) The Wizards reserve the right to change or modify these rules as evolution requires.

(A1.0) [Space] Combat

    (A1.1) [Ship]s
      (A1.121) The [Ship] must be active.
        (A1.1211) This can be waived if the attacking empire has people held [Prisoner] on the [Ship].
      (A1.1212) This can be waived by defender's admin consent.

    (A1.2) [Base]s
      (A1.21) A [Base] is a viable target for [Attack] if it is fully [crew]ed and there is admin consent.
        (A1.211) A [Base] may lose [crew] during the attack and remain a viable target.
        (A1.213) A [Base] must first be reduced to crippled status before it can be boarded by [crew] or docked or landed upon.
        (A1.214) Admin consent is not required if the attacking empire has people held [Prisoner] on the [Base].
          (A1.2141) This also applies if the [Prisoner](s) are in a ship inside (recursively) the [Base].
        (A1.22) Violations
          (A1.221)Any [Ship] docking or landing on a non-viable [Base] is instantly autocaptured by NPC forces.
          (A1.222) Any [crew] boarding a non-crippled [Base] are instantly autocaptured by NPC forces.
          (A1.223)Exception: These rules (A1.32) may be waived by the [Base]'s empire, for entities given explicit permission to visit.
            (A1.2231) Permission can be revoked at any time, if the [Base] is [crew]ed.
            (A1.2232) Ships trapped on pads or ports by exit-locks are treated as [Prisoner]s, for (A1.214).
            (A1.2233) The [Base] is considered a viable target as per (A1.214).
            (A1.2234) A [Base] with an OPEN market may not autocapture with NPC forces.
              (A1.32341) The market cannot be set CLOSED to circumvent (A1.2234) and cause an autocapture.

    (A1.3) [Planet]s
      (A1.32) Violations
        (A1.321) Anything docking or landing on a non-viable [Planet] is autocaptured by NPC forces.
        (A1.322) Anything entering a non-viable [Planet] is instantly autocaptured by NPC forces.
        (A1.323) Exceptions: These rules (A1.32) may be waived by the [Planet]'s empire, for entities given explicit permission to visit.
          (A1.3231) Permission can be revoked at any time, if the [Planet] is [crew]ed.
          (A1.3232) Ships trapped on pads or ports by exit-locks are treated as [Prisoner]s, for (A1.315).
          (A1.3233) The [Planet] is considered a viable target as per (A1.315).
          (A1.3234) A [Planet] with an OPEN market may not autocapture with NPC forces.
            (A1.32341) The market cannot be set CLOSED to circumvent (A1.3234) and cause an autocapture.

(A2.0) [Ship] Operations

    (A2.1) [Crew] Requirements
      (A2.11) A [Ship] must have an established minimum [crew] requirement.
      (A2.13) A [Ship] must be fully [crew]ed to be operated without restrictions (A2.2).
      (A2.14) A [Ship] may not be automated unless it is NPC.

    (A2.2) Restrictions on under[crew]ed [Ship]s
      (A2.21)The [Ship] may not launch from another space object.
      (A2.22) The [Ship] may not undock from another space object.
      (A2.23) The [Ship] may not fire weapons.
      (A2.24) The [Ship] may not activate or operate a tractor beam for any purpose.
        (A2.241) This includes but is not limited to trying to break other tractor holds.
      (A2.25) The [Ship] may not perform a scan.
      (A2.26) The [Ship] may not operate a transporter in an [Attack] on another space object.
      (A2.27) The [Ship] may not operate a cloaking device.
      (A2.28) The [Ship] may not perform repairs on another space object.
      (A2.29) The [Ship] may not operate other special devices.


    (A2.4) Capturing a [Ship] in [Space]
      (A2.41) A [Ship] in [Space] is captured when sufficient capturing [crew] is aboard to meet the [Ship]s [crew] requirement.
        (A2.411) The existing [crew] of the [Ship] must have been [IC]'ly incapacitated and or captured first.
        (A2.412) Once captured, the [Ship] may then be reduced to under[crew]ed levels.
        (A2.414) Capturing [crew] that are themselves [IC]'ly incapacitated and or captured do not count toward (A2.41).
      (A2.42) A captured [Ship] operates under all the restrictions of (A2.2) until [Internalized] (A2.5).
      (A2.421) Exception: A fully [crew]ed captured [Ship] is not restricted by (A2.21) or (A2.22).

    (A2.5)[Internalizing] a [Ship]
      (A2.51) The claiming [crew] must berth the [Ship] in a friendly dock for the duration of the commission time.
        (A2.511) The ship cannot move during this period.
      (A2.52) The claiming [crew] must have uncontested control of the [Ship] for the duration of the commission.
        (A2.521) Control can be contested by unfriendly [crew] arriving on the [Ship].
      (A2.53) The [Ship] must then have its [IC] security and ownership adjusted by the MUSH Administration.
      (A2.54) The Wizards must approve [internalizing] of [ships]s.

    (A2.6) [Ship] theft
      (A2.6)A [Ship] may be stolen from any planet or base.
        (A2.61) Entry into the [Ship] must be made in accordance with (A1.2) and or (A1.3).
        (A2.62) The [Ship] must already have its systems active.
        (A2.63) The [Ship] must be captured in accordance with (A2.4).

    (A2.7) [Ship] destructive sabotage
      (A2.71) A [Ship] may be destructively sabotaged at any time while in space.
      (A2.72) A [Ship] may be destructively sabotaged while landed or docked with certain restrictions.
        (A2.721) Entry into the [Ship] must be made in accordance with (A1.2) and or (A1.3).
        (A2.722) The [Ship] must already have its systems active.

    (A2.8) [Ship] boarding party raids
      (A2.81) A [Ship] may be raided at any time while in space.
      (A2.82) A [Ship] may be raided while landed or docked with certain restrictions.
        (A2.821) Entry into the [Ship] must be made in accordance with (A1.2) and or (A1.3).
        (A2.822) The [Ship] must already have its systems active.

(A3.0) [Base] Operations

    (A3.1) [Crew] Requirements
      (A3.11) A [Base] must have an established minimum [crew] requirement. This is 1 unless defined otherwise.
      (A3.13) A [Base] must be fully [crew]ed to be operated without restrictions (A3.2).
      (A3.14) A [Base] may be automated.
        (A3.141) [Base] automation operations are restricted to (A3.2) unless the [Base] is fully [crew]ed.

    (A3.2) Restrictions on under[crew]ed [Base]s
      (A3.21) The [Base] may not fire weapons.
      (A3.22) The [Base] may not activate or operate a tractor beam for any purpose.
        (A3.221) This includes but is not limited to trying to break other tractor holds.
      (A3.23) The [Base] may not operate a transporter in an [Attack] on another space object.
      (A3.24) The [Base] may not operate other special devices.
        (A3.241) Examples: Inversion Drives, Tachyon Sweeps, Displacement Devices, Phase Gates.
      (A3.25) The [Base] may not move itself from its location.


    (A3.4) Capturing a [Base]
      (A3.41) A [Base] is captured when the [crew] required to capture the [Base] is aboard.

        (A3.411) [Crew] Required to Capture a [Base]

      (A3.412) The existing [crew] of the [Base] must have been [IC]'ly incapacitated and or captured first.
      (A3.413) Once captured, the [Base] may then be reduced to under[crew]ed levels.
      (A3.414) Capturing [crew] that are themselves [IC]'ly incapacitated and or captured do not count toward (A3.411).
      (A3.42) A captured [Base] operates under all the restrictions of (A3.2) until [Internalized] (A3.5).

    (A3.5) [Internalizing] a [Base]
      (A3.51) The claiming [crew] must keep the [Base] shut down for the duration of the commission time.
      (A3.52) The claiming [crew] must have uncontested control of the [Base] for the duration of the commission.
        (A3.521) Control can be contested by unfriendly [crew] arriving on the [Base].
      (A3.52) The [Base] must then have its [IC] security and ownership adjusted by the MUSH Administration.
      (A3.54) The Wizards must approve [internalizing] of [bases]s.


    (A3.7) [Base] destructive sabotage
      (A3.71) A [Base] cannot be destructively sabotaged unless first captured.

    (A3.8) [Base] boarding party raids
      (A3.81) A [Base] may be raided in accordance with (A1.2).

(A4.0) [Planet] Operations


    (A4.2) Restrictions on under[crew]ed [Planet]s
      (A4.21) The [Planet] may not fire weapons.
      (A4.22) The [Planet] may not operate or activate a tractor beam for any purpose.
        (A4.221) This includes but is not limited to trying to break other tractor holds.
      (A4.23) The [Planet] may not operate a transporter in an [Attack] on another space object.
      (A4.24) The [Planet] may not operate other special devices.


(A4.4) [Planet] boarding party raids
    (A4.91) A [Planet] may be raided in all accordance with (A1.3).

(A5.0) [Retconning]
    (A5.1) [Retconning] may be performed by the empire admin if ALL involved parties were in their specific empire.
    (A5.2) [Retconning] may be performed by the Wizards for any reason.

(A6.0) Glossary of Terms

(A6.1) [Attack] To employ weapons, lock tractors, energize transporters, boarding party raids, or acts of systematic sabotage, against a target without the consent of the target's [crew].
    (A6.11) Scanning with intent to spam the scanee is considered an [Attack].
    (A6.2) [Base] A Type-2 Space Object. These appear as a 'Base' in a sensor report.
    (A6.3) [Bitch-Slap] Any type of punishment the Wizards damn well choose.
    (A6.4) [Connected] Logged into the MUSH
    (A6.5) [Crew] A player or group of players in possession of at least one space console skill, who are [Connected], and are [IC].
      (A6.51) Persons who qualify as [crew] may refuse serve as such. An example is an observer from a nother empire. Another is a mutineer.
      (A6.52) Knowing whether or not a space object is fully [crew]ed, at this time, may require admin consultation.
      (A6.53) Knowing whether or not a person is acting as [crew], at this time, may likewise require admin consultation.
    (A6.6) [IC] A player who is set In-Character, and thus observing all the rules of proper role-play.
      (A6.61) This also means to role-play realistically, according to the theme of the role-play environment.
    (A6.7) [Internalized] A space object that has been permanently attached to a specific empire.
    (A6.8) [OOC] A player who is not set In-Character, and thus is not observing all the rules of proper role-play.
      (A6.81) This also means to role-play unrealistically, according to the theme of the role-play environment.
    (A6.9) [Planet] A Type-3 Space Object. These appear as a 'Planet' in a sensor report.
    (A6.10) [Prisoner] A [Prisoner] is a player held against his will by players of an empire or faction other than his or her own.
      (A6.101) A player trapped by automated security systems is not considered a [Prisoner] until players of the trapping empire directly interact [IC]ly with the trapped player.
    (A6.10) [Retconning] A To declare an event that has happened [IC]ly as being [OOC], and thus, to have never happened happened according to [IC] history.
    (A6.21) [RL] Real-life. The really-real world, outside the scope of the MUSH.
    (A6.22) [Ship] A Type-1 Space Object. These appear as a 'Ship' in a sensor report.
    (A6.23) [Space] A location defined by not being landed or docked inside anything.
