Economy Basics
The following is a brief overview of the important parts of the
TrekMUSH economy.
General Components

Latinum
-
Latinum is the basic unit of currency throughout the
TrekMUSH economy.

Latinum Bars are whole units of Latinum.

Latinum Slips are 1/1000th of a Latinum
Bar.

e.g. 1.001 = 1 Bar and 1 Slip of Latinum

Commodities
-
There are 52 officially recognised commodities in
the ATS TrekMUSH economy, although space has been made for another 8
commodities for a total of 60. These commodities can be bought
and sold at markets and produced by factories.

Commodities are measured in metric tons.

Also known as commods.
-
Market
-
A Market is the most basic interface to the TrekMUSH
economy. It allows for the buying and selling of commodities,
purchasing of warehouses, shipyards, clearinghouses, research
facilities and factories.

Markets can be found on most planets, some asteroids
as well as on Starbases and Shipyards.
-
Players are able to control certain settings on a
market if they are a Market Manager.

Bank
-
Banks are places were money can be stored and
transferred across the galaxy.
-
Banks allow for a safe storage place for large
amounts of Latinum. Latinum also earns interest in bank
accounts.

Banks hold a number of accounts. Each player
can have many accounts on many banks.

Company
-
A Company is the basic production facility for more
commodities, ships and facilities.

Companies can have warehouses, shipyards,
clearinghouses and research facilities.

Guild
-
Guilds are a new addition to the economy that is still
under development. They will allow traders to maintain a
level of self sufficiency without the concerns of working for, or
running, a company.

Further improvements to the guilds will provide
facilities for servicing and repairs of ships as well as refuelling.

Guilds will also provide mercenaries with objectives
and opportunities to make cash.

Treasury
-
The Government Treasury is a place where taxes collect
from the various transactions at market places.

Treasuries allow governments to allocate funding to
departments in the form of a Budget
